THE HONEST COMPANY

The Honest Company is an American consumer goods company that strives to empower healthy living. They mostly specialize in personal and baby care. The brand uses thoughtful design not only when it comes to what they put in their products, but with what they put out in the environment, with a goal to maximize their own use of renewable resources. Despite this, through research my team and I came to the findings that not a lot of people see them in that light. Some of the people we interviewed thought of The Honest Company as a juice or tea brand, while others only knew their name from all of the press release exposing them lying about ingredients. We heard multiple complaints about their customer service, and overall nobody seemed to be clear on what the brand does and is. Which is where we saw opportunity; We used conversational interface to spice things up. We created a persona that can help support women through motherhood by offering advice from before birth, to the day they have their baby, until they no longer need aid.

Basically, we created a chatbot for The Honest Company.

MEET IVY! 

Inspired by Mother Earth herself, Ivy exists to help and support mothers as they navigate the challenges of their baby’s first years, as well as educate people about the brand and help eliminate confusion. She also makes it easier to purchase all-natural, organic products for both the mom and baby.

Feels: Helpful, supportive, proud, sassy
(Just as any sidekick/best friend would.)

Ivy does a lot. She offers advice and support, and recommends products and their uses and/or sizes.Ivy thinks that mothers are warriors and wants to help them realize this by acting as confidant and sidekick.

Ivy feels calm, selfless, helpful, non-judgemental, and proud of the mothers that she helps. She is also a bit sassy at times because it is 2018 and moms are far from helpless.
 

UTILITIES

Ivy checks on the mother every now and then, gives advice, offers tips on motherhood, as well as provides links to resources and the Honestly Blog.

  • Pre and Postpartum counseling

  • Can assist in mini-emergency situations like diaper rash and nipple pain

She can make product recommendations and place orders from The Honest Company’s entire product suite.

  • Creates custom product bundles based on mom's needs

  • Completes transactions and places orders

We created a use case for each of the three different phases she can assist with- expectancy, birth, and beyond.
